The operator taps a PIN and they're on the job. Every reading is stamped with who took it, on what device, against which work order — traceability nobody had to remember to write down.

A process walking toward the edge of the window looks fine on a pass/fail sheet right up until the day it isn't. On a control chart you see it coming and adjust while the parts are still good.
